Is deception ever justified? This is a difficult question and I'm sure many people would have many wildly different takes on it but as this is my blog mine is that yes deception can be justified on some occasions. I know if my grandmother was dead she would have just turned over in her grave but as she is not I must be safe for now. But I cannot hinder what I think mainly since I see negative situations everywhere that could have been avoided if people would have been able to throw out their guilty continence, suck it up, and tell a little white lie. For example yesterday I was watching a show on the CW called life unexpected and on this show there was a woman who slept with this one guy while her and her fiancĂ© were broken up no harm since they weren’t even together but she knew it would hurt him if she told him the truth so she kept it to herself but then for some unfathomable reason she told him and he left her. Now I know is she didn’t and everything worked out perfectly that would not make for very interesting television but the principal stands. A real life application would be that everyone has told a white lie to their parents “did you break that vase? ... Nope” “were you out with that boy? … No.” it saves you some trouble and them stress.
Now I'm not saying the truth is overrated by any stretch there are defiantly situations where you shouldn’t tell a lie to save your own ass for example in situations where the law is concerned or if something bad might actually happen other than a grounding. And if the situation could hurt someone emotionally or physically without the truth then it should ring out! But like I said this is a very difficult question with tricky angles it really just depends on the person.
